Letter from the Deans: Commencement

Dear Parents,

With more than a few years in higher education between us, one might assume that the excitement of the commencement season wanes with the passage of time. That is definitely not the case! We are thrilled to take part in this time-honored tradition, and share so many of the emotions that come with our students ending one life chapter and beginning another. Our heartiest congratulations to the graduates and families of the class of 2013!

This year was an exceptional year, with many reasons to feel Pace Pride. We hope you had a chance to read the 25 Reasons booklet mailed to you last month, highlighting  many of the people and events that made the Pace student life experience this year so rich and vibrant.  No matter which campus—Pleasantville or New York City—there were many academic, social, and cultural offerings to enrich your student’s experience.  In fact, just this week, the New York City mayoral candidates came to campus to debate the vital issues. Students witnessed the intensity and passion—not to mention the oratorical and debating skills—of those with ambitions as big as the city itself.

This summer brings Orientation for our incoming first-year students; ground-breaking for the Pleasantville Master Plan—a five-year plan to transform the campus—and final preparations for the opening of a brand new residence hall to house 600 students in New York City. Our summer programs are filling up quickly with current students who want to ensure graduation in four years or less, and with students from other colleges and universities who are spending a summer at Pace.

We wish you time to take a break and enjoy the bounty of summer.

All best,

Dean Lisa Bardill Moscaritolo, PhD, Westchester Campus
Dean Marijo Russell O’Grady, PhD, New York City Campus
